A War We Can Not Afford To Lose

I promised in my last post to give you a more detailed accounting of my recent activities which have kept me away from my blogging, for the past two months, and here it is, in part.

Let me begin by saying, we're in big trouble. When I say this, I am referring to both America and Israel. I am fully aware that this is not what people want to hear, nor is it what I would like to report, but it's the truth, and the truth is what we must face, if we are to survive.

I am, by nature, a very optimistic person, a "the glass is always half-full" type individual, so you can be sure that when I say, we're in big trouble, I believe it, passionately. I would love to tell you that the future looks bright, but I must call it like I see it, and it's not good. I believe fervently, as I stated in my earlier post, that America and Israel have both reached a fork in the road, and our destinies will be determined by the choices we make now. The good news is that there are people, intelligent, dedicated, and informed individuals, (like all of you, my faithful blogging friends), on the front lines of this battle, who are fighting the good fight, and with G-D's help, it's a war that we will win.

We must sound the alarm. We must awaken a complacent, self-serving, spoiled population, that has become fat and lazy, so-to-speak, accustomed to ease, and lulled to sleep by the false prophets of our day, namely, the leftist media, fat-cat, self-promoting politicians, liberal universities, and the corporate machinery, which fuels them all, bent on achieving their globalist agenda. This fight will be broad, much broader than the struggle between those on the right and those on the left, Republican or Democrat, religious or secular. To break it down to a least common denominator, the war we must fight is the original struggle, that of good verses evil, and it's a war that we can't afford to lose.

Over the past two months, I have been neck-deep in political muck, in preparation for next year's presidential election, here in America. I have spoken with representatives for all of the lead conservatives, in the Republican party, and with just over a year remaining before the election, I remain undecided in my choice of candidates. I have received, no less, than three, on some days, upwards of seven calls, per day, from Washington, D.C., from leading conservatives, and I have yet to receive any definitive answers to the issues of paramount concern to me. Politicians are expert at giving indirect answers to direct questions. I want direct answers, to direct questions. Is this so much to expect? I don't think so, and I'll be breaking-down the questions I asked of them, and some of the answers I received, candidate-by-candidate, but enough for now. I'll share more details from my recent discoveries as I outline them, in upcoming posts.

We have been given a great opportunity, as bloggers, to be on the front lines of this war, and hopefully to impact it's outcome. I am greatly humbled to be included in this very tight circle of brave soldiers, my fellow bloggers, my good friends, and my comrades in battle. Remember the pen (or, in this case, the blog), is mightier than the sword. All of you are my heroes. Your posts are far more eloquent and powerful than mine, and I am honored to know you all, and in my simplistic way, I will attempt to be worthy of the encouragement and support you have all given to me. Together we will fight the good fight, and we will win, with G-D's help.

After much investigation, and soul searching, I have arrived at a decision which has been very difficult for me.

As many of my regular readership are aware, I have openly supported Fred Thompson for a presidential bid in 2008.

I thought he was both a Conservative, and a friend and supportor of Israel, both of which are central to obtaining my support in the upcoming race for President.

It now appears, due to a recent shake-up in the Thompson camp, that my faith in him was mis-placed.

He could not, I feel, have been unaware of Spencer Abraham's Islamic connections, and therefore, is not the man I had hoped he was.

He either is unaware (which would mean politically blind), or he actually is fully aware and does not consider Abraham's affiliations to be a problem (in which case, he too would have to be a sell-out to Islamic interests, and therefore, a danger to both America, and to Israel).

In either case I have decided to withdraw my support and to remove all Thompson related blogrolls and links from my site.

Please read why I have taken these drastic steps below.

I no longer feel I can trust Fred Thompson's judgment, or where his loyalties lie. It's as simple as that, and it is very dis-heartening to me.

Darn. He sounded so good for awhile. Then Fred Thompson made a fatal mistake for anyone concerned with the infiltration of this country by Islamists.

He hired Spencer Abraham as his campaign manager:

Although Abraham, of Lebanese descent, is a Christian, he is a career water carrier for Islamists of the most extremist stripe and made that the cornerstone of his failed, one-term Senate career and equally lousy tenure as Energy Secretary.

As a Senator, he took marching orders from James Zogby of the pan-Islamist Arab American Institute, opposing profiling of Arabs, the use of secret evidence against Muslims (at the behest of Muslim groups), attempting to repeal the Clinton counterterrorism package, refusing to fund computer tracking of student and other foreign aliens, giving millions in our tax money right to Hezbollah, and putting CAIR on the map on Capitol Hill (taking the group’s officials around to meet other Senators and Members of Congress). He took campaign contributions from the relatives of Hezbollah-backed top Lebanese officials after he got the group millions in our tax money.

It gets worse…

Spence was one of only two Senators in the entire U.S. Senate who refused to sign a letter calling on President Clinton to condemn Palestinian terrorism and Yasser Arafat. This was at the height of a series of homicide bombings in Israel in 1999 and 2000.

As Energy Secretary, he gave top secret tours of nuclear facilities, as well as detailed information on how we secure them to Muslim nations who are our enemies. And he gave out undue post-9/11 awards to Al-Qaeda money-launderers . . . at the White House. The money launderers were raided by U.S. Customs Service agents.

After he left the Bush cabinet, Spence became a lobbyist for Mid-Eastern Muslim countries that practice the Arab boycott of Israel and don’t really like us too much either. He took their money and until the Thompson race, did their bidding.

Then there’s Jamal Barzinji. Abraham enlisted him to find parties who helped and reached out to Muslims after 9/11, with Abraham hosting an awards ceremony for them. Problem is, Barzinji is an officer and/or director in SAFA Trust, Mar-Jac Poultry, and International Institute for Islamic Thought, all raided by Customs in March 2002 for laundering over $1.7 billion to Al-Quaida and Islamic Jihad (through indicted University of South Florida professor and alleged Islamic Jihad frontman Sami Al-Arian).

(IsraelNN.com) With tensions rising again as homosexuals prepare to parade in Jerusalem, the Knesset passes a preliminary reading of an amendment that would ban future such marches. At the same time, opponents of the march have begun a series of protest actions.

The Knesset voted by a 40-23 margin on Wednesday afternoon to approve an early reading of an amendment to the current Jerusalem Bill. The amendment will be discussed in the Knesset Law Committee; if it is passed there, it will be returned to the Knesset for two additional votes and final passage.

The amendment reads as follows: "The Jerusalem City Council is authorized to ban marches and parades in the city for reasons of disturbance of the peace, offense to public sensitivities, or for religious reasons."

MK Gabbai Explains

MK Eli Gabbai (National Religious Party), who submitted the bill twice - in the previous Knesset and in the current one - offered two explanations for proposing the bill. One explanation is that "Jerusalem is a unique city in the world, holy to the three religions. The holding of a gay-pride parade specifically in Jerusalem is offensive to the believers of all the religions all over the world... This law authorizes the City Council to bar an event that is liable to offend millions of believers around the world, as well as the residents of the city itself."

In his second explanation, Gabbai adds, "...Jerusalem's special national and international status stems, inter alia, from the fact that it is holy to the three religions. This legislation comes to strengthen Jerusalem's status via its City Council representatives, enabling them to set its policies while taking into account the special sensitivities in light of the unique religious and social composition of the population."

MK Gabbai told Arutz-7 he hopes to have the bill passed completely in time for the scheduled gay march two weeks from now. Some observers in the Knesset feel this is unrealistic, but "it should be ready in time for gay events that are planned for the future, however," said Gabbai's spokesman Yair Givati.

Meretz faction leader MK Zahava Gal'on condemned the proposed amendment, saying that "every group must have the right of expression." She and party colleague MK Chaim Oron warned that "the sword that is aimed at one group today could be aimed at another tomorrow." Prime Minister Ehud Olmert consented to allow the coalition MKs - specifically those of Shas - to vote their conscience on the bill. Olmert said that he himself personally opposes the bill, though he agrees that Jerusalem is "not the natural place for a parade by homosexuals because of the special sensitivity" in the holy city.

MK Moshe Sharoni (Pensioners) said he feels the homosexuals can march in any other city: "Why Jerusalem? What, do they want to get the Christians and the Moslems angry at us? Do they want the whole world to hate us even more? They're a small minority, and this is the law."

"Once certain rabbis give the word, their followers will understand that
an abomination march cannot be allowed to happen in the holy city, and will do practically anything to stop it ........"

Posters and Prayer Rallies

The hareidi-religious and religious sectors in Jerusalem are beginning a series of actions designed to prevent the parade from taking place. A body calling itself The Committee to Stop the Abomination Parade, backed by the Yesha Rabbis Council, the Sanhedrin, Jerusalem City Councilwoman Mina Fenton and others, has taken the following steps: Posters and billboards against the parade, road-blockings against a gay parade taking place in Haifa today (Wednesday), a possible protest rally against a planned march in Tel Aviv this Friday, and a protest tent at the entrance to Jerusalem beginning this week.

In addition, the group has filed for a police permit to hold a mass prayer-and-protest rally at the entrance to Jerusalem on the day of the planned march. A donor has already agreed to pay for 1,000 buses to bring participants from all over the country. The event will be gender-separate; women will congregate at the beginning of Herzl Blvd., while men will occupy the road leading to Ramot.

Organizers say they will not sanction violence at these events. However, one organizer told Arutz-7 that once certain rabbis give the word to approve protests, "their followers will understand that an abomination march is something that cannot be allowed to happen in the holy city, and they will do practically anything to stop it."

Police have authorized the parade in principle, but have hinged the actual permit on their check of the actual route and other considerations of public security.

Religious MKs Slam J'lem Gay Tourism Campaign

New 'pink Jerusalem' campaign aimed at promoting gay tourism in capital and partly sponsored by state, angers religious legislators who threaten no-confidence motion over issue.

"This is a delusional campaign for a minority with a normative defect," Deputy Prime Minister Eli Yishai said Tuesday, responding to reports about a new Ministry of Tourism international campaign promoting gay tourism in Jerusalem.

The campaign, produced by the Association for Civil Rights in Israel and the Homosexuals and Lesbians organization, together with the Tourism Ministry, features same-sex couples photographed at tourist attractions and places of historic interest in the capital.

"I unequivocally reject the attempt to focus a state-sponsored campaign on a delusional minority that suffers from a normative defect," Yishai said, "Jerusalem and Amsterdam are the same for these people. Therefore, those who fail to recognize Jerusalem's holiness had better stay away from it."

Tourism Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch said that the campaign was initiated by his predecessor, Abraham Hirchson, and then he himself rejected it strongly.

'Campaign undermines status-quo'

MK Benyamin Elon (National Union), a former tourism minister, harshly protested the issue to the tourism minister Tuesday, and received a reply from Aharonovitch that the campaign photos were published without his knowledge, and that he planned to instruct his office not to promote the matter in the future.

Meanwhile, the party threatened to file a no-confidence motion to the Knesset over the affair.

Another former tourism minister, MK Yitzhak Levy (National Union-NRP), also referred to the campaign saying, "I protest the portrayal of Israel as a pink, namely – gay, paradise. Israel used to be famous for values and holiness, and here a red line has been crossed."

Shlomo Rosenstein, a member of the Jerusalem city council representing the United Torah Judaism, said that, "The Jerusalem municipality and the haredi coalition are doing their utmost to maintain the peaceful atmosphere in town, which has proved itself in the last three years. Provocations will do no nothing for Jerusalem but undermine the status-quo and coexistence within the fragile fabric of life and relations between the different sectors in Jerusalem.

"I'm surprised that the Tourism Ministry and the person heading it chose to destroy, rather than build. This campaign is disgusting and will drive tourists away from Jerusalem and Israel."

According to NewsChannel4's Jonathan Dienst, sources said federal investigators have made arrests in an alleged terror plot on Kennedy Airport.

Law enforcement officials said the plot may involved a former airport worker.

A press conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. this afternoon.

Three arrested, one still at large. These men were under surveillance for some time. They were hoping to blow up a jet fuel line so as to set off a series of massive explosions. The fuel line feeds John F. Kennedy International Airport and runs through residential neighborhoods, officials close to the investigation said.(more here)

The official said the plotters had conducted surveillance on giant jet fuel tanks at JFK and the pipeline. They had taken surveillance video of the targets and took it to Trinidad to review the tape, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the arrests were not yet announced.

These Islamic terrorists have been tentatively tied to Jamaat Muslimeen (sp?) "struggle for Islam" - orgininating from Trinidad (the Caribbean is now a hot spot.) Places you least expect.

It seems a Parliamentarian was involved in this plot. Yes, A GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL. A former member of the parliament in Guyana.Those arrested include a U.S. citizen; a second U.S. citizen who is a naturalized citizen from Guyana; and one Trinidadian. Authorities are also looking for one more person, who is from Guyana. One of the suspects was an airline worker with "intimate knowledge of entire airport and inner workings of JFK."

One suspect, a U.S. citizen who is a native of Guyana and who once worked at the airport, was described by a source as "a very angry Muslim extremist."

"A very angry Muslim extremist?" Is there any other kind?

Another suspect is a former member of parliament in Guyana, several law enforcement officials said.

A wiretap transcript the FBI gave CNN indicated the plotters targeted the airport because of the popularity of its namesake:

Anytime you hit Kennedy, it is the most hurtful thing to the United States. ... This whole country will be in mourning. It's like you can kill the man twice," the transcript quotes one suspect as saying.

In all, four individuals, including the former Guyana parliament member, Abdul Kadir, and Russell Defreitas, a U.S. citizen and native of Guyana who worked as an airport cargo worker, have been charged with conspiring to attack JFK.

Also in custody are Kareem Ibrahim, a citizen of Trinidad held in Trinidad, and Abdel Nur, a citizen of Guyana. The United States is planning to seek their extradition.

One of the suspects (Defreitas - sp?) was quoted as saying: "the attacks would result in the destruction of the whole of JFK and destroy whole parts of Queens. Few people would survive."

The complaint adds that an informant and Defreitas discussed the war in Lebanon in August 2006 and agreed, "Muslims always incur the wrath of the world while the Jews get a pass."

It was at that point, court records say, Defreitas shared with the informant "that he had a vision that would make the WTC attack seem small."

Homeland Security: There's a lot of talk about al-Qaida safe havens in Somalia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq. But the FBI is closely watching a potential hot spot in our own hemisphere.

Al-Qaida is suspected of having set up a front in the Caribbean island state of Trinidad, and sympathetic jihadists have already launched a movement there to replace Trinidad's Westernized government with Islamic law.

The militant Muslim group Jamaat al-Muslimeen staged a bloody coup attempt in Trinidad last decade that involved the firebombing of police headquarters in Port-of-Spain. A rash of bombings over the past couple of years has been linked to the group, whose leader, Yasin Abu Bakr, recently was released from prison after claiming to be ill.

Local police had arrested him in 2005 after raiding his headquarters and seizing high-powered rifles, grenades, walkie-talkies and 700 rounds of ammo. He awaits trial for inciting religious violence and terrorism.

The number of Bakr's followers is said to be growing, along with the number of kidnappings, murders and bombings in Trinidad. And fears are growing within the Department of Homeland Security and FBI that Trinidadian jihadists could train and export terrorists to strike the U.S.

Trinidad might be harboring the "next Mohamed Atta," a college-educated, English-speaking Saudi native known within al-Qaida as "Jafar the pilot." His real name is Adnan El Shukrijumah, and the FBI considers him "armed and dangerous." He's been connected to al-Qaida plots to attack America with dirty bombs.

Local papers report that Shukrijumah has stayed with friends in Trinidad, and worshiped at local mosques, indicating a possible cell exists there. U.S. authorities at Miami International Airport are closely monitoring inbound flights from that area.

The FBI's Web site says Shukrijumah "carries a Guyanese passport but may attempt to enter the United States with a Trinidadian passport."

Shukrijumah's late father is Guyanese. He taught Arabic and lectured in mosques there and in Trinidad before moving to America to work for the Saudi Embassy and then run a small radical mosque in Florida (which was bankrolled by the former Saudi ambassador, according to Newsweek). Shukrijumah still has relatives in Guyana, which is near Trinidad.

UPDATE: Feared JFK Plotters Linked to Top Terrorist ABC

FBI agents feared but never confirmed the three men accused of plotting to attack John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York were linked to one of the most wanted al Qaeda leaders, Adnan Shukrijumah, known to have operated out of Guyana and Trinidad.

Officials tell the Blotter on ABCNews.com that they heard repeated references to "Adnan" during the extensive wiretaps conducted on the suspects' telephone conversations, including calls to Guyana and Trinidad.

There is a $5 million reward for information on Shukrijumah, who officials consider extremely dangerous because of the years he spent living in the Miami area and his known ties to al Qaeda. Some of the 9/ll hijackers attended a south Florida mosque run by Shukrijumah's now deceased father.

Shukrijumah, the FBI says he is "wanted in connection with possible terrorist threats against the United States". Local law enforcement officials said they were aware that Shukrijumah was or had been in Trinidad and confirmed they were contacted by the FBI for assistance in the matter.

The father Gulshair El-Shukrijumah (deceased) was the Iman at the Masjid Nur Ul-Islam 3324 Church Ave, Brooklyn NY 11203 for at least 5 years during the 1990's and the Iman at the Masjid Nur UL Islam Mosque in Trinidad during the mid 1980's.

The SSN for Adnan el-Shukrijumah came from Bill Warner. Adnan's brother, and mother still live in Florida. His sister is in Chicago.

Cops seize grenade, gun, ammo at Jamaat Muslimeen compound

Government's drastic anti-crime initiative paid off yesterday, when a large contingent of police and army officers from the Special Anti-crime Unit (SAUTT) and other sections of the Police Service raided the Jamaat al Muslimeen compound at Mucurapo Road.

Armed with search warrants and metal detectors, the officers surrounded the Jamaat compound from as early as 4 am, and ordered that no one enter, or leave.

The action took place while Jamaat al Muslimeen Leader Yasin Abu Bakr was in a cell at the Port-of-Spain CID awaiting his court appearance on four charges arising out of statements allegedly made during Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations at the Jamaat compound.

He was only told of the raid at the mosque while he was at the Port-of-Spain Magistrates' Court.
Newsday learned that officers found a hand grenade, several rounds of ammunition, and an assault rifle. The items were placed in a heavily tinted vehicle and taken to the St James Police Station.

Palestinian terrorist leader arrested having car sex near Arafat's grave

Israel today arrested a longtime wanted terror leader here in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

According to Israeli security officials and Palestinian sources in Ramallah speaking to WND, the terrorist was arrested while having car sex just a few hundred feet from late PLO leader Yasser Arafat's grave site.

Khaled Shawish was captured by undercover Israeli police forces following scores of shooting attacks he is suspected of carrying out. Shawish, who doubles as the Ramallah chief of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group, previously boasted of involvement in a West Bank shooting attack in December 2000 that killed Israeli ultranationalist leader Benjamin Kahane and Kahane's wife, Talya, and seriously wounded their five daughters.

According to Israeli security officials and Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades sources in Ramallah, Shawish was arrested after the Israeli police stormed his jeep, which was parked in a lot outside the Muqata, about 200 feet from Arafat's grave.

The sources said at the time of his arrest, Shawish was having intercourse in the back seat of his jeep with a Palestinian woman, whose identity is being withheld by WND. The woman was not his wife.

The Fatah-linked murderer was responsible for the deaths of eighteen other people and the wounding of dozens in numerous attacks, including several in and around Jerusalem. Among the attacks orchestrated by Shawish were:

- a 2002 suicide bombing on King George Street in Jerusalem

- a 2002 suicide bombing by a female terrorist at a checkpoint just outside Jerusalem

- a shooting attack in the French Hill neighborhood of Jerusalem

The Brigades is the declared "military wing" of Abbas' Fatah party.

After the Kahane murder, Shawish was extended refuge by Arafat to live in the late PLO leader's Ramallah compound, widely known as the Muqata. Arafat is buried at the entrance to the Muqata.

Shawish continued the past seven years to live in the Muqata, from which, according to Israeli security officials, he directed the Brigades to carry out scores of shootings against Israelis driving on West Bank roads.

Several years ago Shawish sustained an injury during a gun battle with the Israel Defense Forces and has since been confined to a wheelchair, although he is still able to drive.

According to Israeli security officials and Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades sources in Ramallah, Shawish was arrested after the Israeli police stormed his jeep, which was parked in a lot outside the Muqata, about 200 feet from Arafat's grave. JERUSALEM PROUDLY PRESENTS

Ministry of Tourism's next target: Bringing gay and lesbian tourists to Israel. The means: A campaign featuring a same-sex couple on a camel, two men in yarmulkes kissing in Jerusalem.

The proudest campaign ever was launched by the Tourism Ministry in cooperation with the Association for Civil Rights and the Israeli Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Association (the “Aguda”). The goal: To encourage GLBT tourism to Jerusalem.

For the past few years, Tel Aviv, along with Berlin, Barcelona, and San Francisco, has established itself as a GLBT friendly city and a popular vacation site for the community's members.

As a result, the Tourism Ministry decided to launch a new campaign aimed at attracting "proud visitors" to the Holy Land. The campaign focuses on scenes from the Israeli gay community's lifestyle.

Representatives of Israeli travel companies will distribute thousands of brochures to participants in pride events worldwide.

The photos for the campaign was taken in many sites throughout Israel, including Jerusalem and the Dead Sea. "I chose sites that represent the country," said Eitan Tal, the campaign's photographer, "in Jerusalem the models wore yarmulkes for the religious GLBT crowd. In the Dead Sea I shot the models floating in the water holding hands with tiny trunks on. I am happy I was able to assist in the effort to improve the country's economy."

Campaign managers also launched an internet site with information about clubs, bars, restaurants, hotels and airlines offering service to Israel. In the future, they plan to add "Proud" travel packages especially designed to fit the needs of the gay visitors.

Most bloggers and forums wrote against it and fought hard to cancel it. Some wrote letters to the Mayor, PM, and ministers-from-hell protesting it. Some even fasted to have it cancelled. Everyone davened for its cancellation.

Finally, Shaarei Kedusha (gates of holiness) won and the 'thing' was cancelled.

Who thought that soon after, 7 months later, we would be fighting it again?

Impurade 2007: Oh no, here we go again...

"They have eyes, but they cannot see" (Psalm 135:16). There is no better description for a regime that never learns a lesson, no matter how tragic it is.

The Midrash tells us that the only right the People of Israel have to the Land of Israel is by their living in holiness. The Torah says specifically that our continued presence in the Holy Land is on the condition that we don't act like the wanton and lustful Canaanite nations that were here before us (See Shemot 23:20-33, Devorim 9:5). If we fail to keep Hashem's laws, we lose the deed to Hashem's Holy Land, G-d forbid - it's explicit and simple.

The anti-emuna regime thinks that Israel can be Monte Carlo. They think that a fiasco like this will improve tourism or make them more popular in decadent eyes. What warped thinking.

The planned Impurade of 2005 brought us the destruction and exile of Jewish Gaza, where nearly 10,000 Jews lost their homes. The planned Impurade of 2006 brought us the disaster of the so-called 2nd Lebanon War, where nearly one million Jews were forced to evacuate their homes. Can't the silly regime see a connection? The holy Land of Israel can't stomach debauchery and impurity. Who are the daft leaders that want to chance another public show of anti-Torah abominations, like a dare in Hashem's face? As it is, Sderot is becoming a ghost town. Is anarchy in the name of democracy worth losing more towns and cities?

Dealing with this subject is most distasteful to me - there are 1000 more wholesome and pleasurable things to write about. Yet, someone has to stand up and yell at full volume that Israel is in grave danger. The decadent public shows of impurity on our Holy Land are a much bigger threat than Bin Ladin, Achmedinejad and his nukes, the Hamas, and the PLO rolled into one. We must stand firm together, just as we would in the face of an attack on our borders. Indeed, another Impurade is a threat deep within our midst. May Hashem help us.

What we really need is a Prime Minister like Rabbi Yehuda Levin, someone who fears nothing other than Hashem.

Oshri Oz, 36, from Hod Hasharon near Tel Aviv, was killed
by a Hamas missile hit on his car in Sderot today, May 27th.(z"l)

He left a pregnant wife and a two-year old daughter; his wife had to be hospitalized when she received the news. Another two people were injured by a missile explosion, one of nine Sunday. The missiles were deliberately aimed at the city’s largest public park and community center.

A friend of Oz told Army Radio that he was an "amazing fellow, only good with no bad." The friend said that he and Oz were part of a closely-knit group of friends that had stayed together for over 25 years. "It's hard to speak of him in the past tense. He was always there for us," he said.

I write this because,while you'll find loads of coverage on Palestinian casualties in the dinosaur media, including the most outlandish claims of civilian deaths, you won't find much on Oshri Oz or the family he left behind. You'll also find a deliberate equivalence in the Main Stream media between the Israeli raids on Hamas facilities and missile sites and the Palestinians deliberately targeting civilians in Israel.

Common sense should tell anyone with an ounce of discrimination that is the Israeli were really targeting civilians with the abandon of their Palestinian `peace partners', the Palestinian death toll would be inthe tens of thousands and this war would have been over long ago.

And by the way, it's not just Hamas.

Last night, Palestinians getting a paycheck from Mahmoud Abbas and Fatah struck at the border checkpoints in Jerusalem, injuring four border police in a shooting attack.

The shooters were part of the al-Aksa Martyrs' brigade, and the IDF killed all three of them.

The IDF's response to this carnage has been to launch dozens of targeted missile strikes over the past 10 days that have killed 48 Palestinians and damaged Hamas facilities in an effort to end the Hamas rocket fire from Gaza at Israeli border towns.

So far, it's been unsuccessful. And so far, Mahmoud Abbas has failed to use any of those fancy and expensive security forces and armaments to reign in Hamas, which should tell us which side of the fence he's on.

I'll say it again...the Israelis needn't invade, unless they are going to go all the way, make Gaza part of Israel and displace the current inhabitants. All the Israelis need do is shut off the water and electricity and begin targeting Gaza's infrastructure and the Palestinian leaders to end this thing, and end it quicky. And if Abbas is unwilling to commit his forces in this effort, he's obviously part of the problem and needs to be dealt with in the same fashion.

Either the Israelis will end up with a real peace partner or the end to a ridiculous charade that has already cost far too many lives since Oslo.

Here's my list. I invite readers to suggest other examples that particularly irk them.

First, Israel is the only UN member state whose very right to exist is under constant challenge. Notwithstanding the fact that Israel was created with the imprimatur of the UN and has been a member of the world body since 1949, there is a relentless chorus of nations, institutions and individuals denying Israel's very political legitimacy. No one would dare question the right to exist of Libya, Saudi Arabia or Syria. Why is it open hunting season on Israel, as if we didn't know the answer?

Second, Israel is the only UN member state that's been publicly targeted for annihilation by another UN member state. Think about it. The Iranian president calls for wiping Israel off the map. Is there any other country that faces such an open call for genocidal destruction?

Third, Israel is the only nation whose capital city, Jerusalem, is not recognized by other nations. Imagine the absurdity of this. Foreign diplomats live in Tel Aviv while conducting virtually all their business in Jerusalem. Though no Western nation questions Israel's presence in the city's western half, where the prime minister's office, Knesset and Ministry of Foreign Affairs are located, there are no embassies there. In fact, look at listings of world cities, including places of birth in passports, and you'll often see something striking – Paris, France; Tokyo, Japan; Pretoria, South Africa; Lima, Peru; and Jerusalem, sans country – orphaned, if you will.

Fourth, the UN has two agencies that deal with refugees. One, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), focuses on all the world's refugee populations, save one. The other, the United Nations Refugee and Works Administration (UNRWA), handles only the Palestinians. But the oddity goes further than two structures and two bureaucracies. They have two different mandates. UNHCR seeks to resettle refugees; UNRWA does not. When, in 1951, John Blanford, UNRWA's director, proposed resettling up to 250,000 refugees in Arab countries, those countries refused, leading to his resignation. The message got through. No UN official since has pushed for resettlement.

Moreover, the UNRWA and UNHCR definitions of a refugee differ markedly. Whereas the UNHCR targets those who have fled their homelands, the UNRWA definition covers "the descendants of persons who became refugees in 1948," without any generational limitations.

Fifth, Israel is the only country that has won all its major wars for survival and self-defense, yet it's confronted by defeated adversaries who insist on dictating the terms of peace. In doing so, ironically, they've found support from many countries who, victorious in war, demanded -- and got – border adjustments.

Sixth, Israel is the only country that has been censured by name -- not once, but nine times -- since the new UN Human Rights Council was established in June 2006. Astonishingly, or maybe not, this UN body has failed to adopt a single resolution critical of any real human rights abuser. When finally discussing the Darfur situation, the Council shamefully balked at pointing a finger at Sudan.

Seventh, Israel is the only country that, in violation of the spirit of the UN Charter, isn't a full member of one of the five regional blocs -- Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and West Europe and Others (WEOG) -- that determine eligibility for candidacy for key UN posts. While Israel achieved a breakthrough in 2000 and joined WEOG, its membership is limited to New York, not other UN centers, and is both conditional and temporary.

Eighth, Israel is the only country that's the daily target of three UN bodies established solely to advance the Palestinian cause and to bash Israel -- the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Palestinian People, and the Division for Palestinian Rights in the UN's Department of Political Affairs.

Ninth, Israel is the only country that is the target of a boycott by the British-based National Union of Journalists. An earlier British boycott against Israeli academic institutions was voided on a technicality because the union that adopted the measure merged with another. There is now an incipient call by some in the British Medical Association to exclude its Israeli counterpart from the World Medical Association.

Tenth, Israel is the only country where some associated with its majority population, i.e., Jews, openly call, for political or religious reasons, to dismantle the state. Is there a comparable situation to those religious voices of Neturei Karta, for example, who traveled to Teheran to join publicly with a leader seeking Israel's destruction, as well as those political extremists who seek to delegitimize the State of Israel and call for a "one-state" solution? Speaking of our own worst enemies... Tackling any one of these ten, much less all of them, is a daunting challenge, to state the painfully obvious. And, as I suggested, this list is far from complete. But it gives a sense of what's going on beyond the daily headlines.

The old ad used to say that you don't have to be Jewish to love Levy's Jewish rye bread. Well, surely, you don't have to be an ardent pro-Israel activist to be troubled by the unjust treatment of Israel. All it takes is a capacity for outrage that things like this are going on before our very eyes.

As Israel observed Holocaust Day, thousands of miles away, A Rumanian-born Holocaust survivor gave his life in another senseless murder - and apparently in an act of heroism.

Among the 32 people killed by a lone gunman at Virginia Tech Monday is 77-year-old engineering professor, Liviu Librescu, a citizen of Israel. According to eyewitness accounts, Librescu ran to the door of his classroom and blocked it with his body – preventing the gunman from entering but getting shot to death himself as a result.

Alec Calhoun, a 20-year-old student who had been in Librescu's class in room 204, told a reporter that at 9:05 a.m. the heard screams and a loud banging sound from the next-door classroom. When the students realized it was gunfire, he said, some hid behind tables, and others leapt from the classroom's windows. Calhoun himself was among the last to jump. "Before I jumped from the window, I turned around and looked at the professor, who stayed behind, maybe to block the door. He had been killed."

Librescu is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marlena, who was with him in Virginia, and sons Aryeh and Joe who are in Israel. They intend to bury him in Israel.

Asael Arad, an Israeli student who visited the widow after the tragedy, told Army Radio Tuesday that Marlena had been receiving e-mails from students who credited Prof. Librescu with saving their lives. "I lost my best friend," the widow told a reporter for NRG at her home near the Blacksburg campus. "He was a great person, who loved teaching more than anything." Marlena said someone had initially informed her that her husband was injured in the shooting. "I looked for him in the hospitals all day but I didn't find him," she said.

The Librescus are Rumanian Jews who came on aliyah (immigrated to Israel) in 1978 – after then-Prime Minister Begin interceded on their behalf with the Rumanian government, according to Marlena. The couple went on a sabbatical to the United States since 1986 and has been living there ever since.

Earlier Monday, the US secretary of state called off the Monday night press conference to launch her initiative. Instead, she held a second round of talks with Olmert to overcome his objections. He finally succumbed to the creation of a US-Arab-Israeli mechanism forace talks based on the resolutions reached at the Arab League summit convening in Riyadh March 28-29.
The summit will approve the Saudi peace plan without any of the modifications requested by Israel.

Olmert and foreign minister Tzipi Livni, whom Rice met earlier in the day, spent hours hammering the phrasing for presenting their concession to the US secretary, without being seen to have abandoned the Middle East roadmap, which is the central plank of this Israeli government’s foreign and peace policy.

They agreed that this was not the time for final-status talks, and that Rice would term the Israel-Arab diplomatic track a preface to the roadmap’s implementation. The US secretary argued that Israel has nothing to lose by engaging Arab representatives and would only improve its image. Olmert asked for the encounters to take place at the senior level of foreign ministers, in order to convince the public that his government had not been browbeaten into a concession contrary to national interests. But Rice could not make this promise. US-Israeli discussion on the framework for Israeli and Arab delegates to meet will continue.

But in Riyadh, meanwhile, the preliminary conference of Arab foreign ministers has already determined the mechanism and forum for the talks with Israel. They have opted for the UN Security Council and Middle East Quartet as sponsors, convinced that both bodies are powerful enough to impose a settlement on Israel. The US Secretary informed Olmert that she does not support this demand.

Regarding the Saudi peace plan, Israeli opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu rejected the clause calling for the return of Palestinian refugees as a threat to Israel’s existence.

Arab foreign ministers drafting summit resolutions demanded the refugees’ return to their pre-1948 homes and rejected any prospect of settling Palestinian refugees in any Arab state. They also demanded the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

This is a must read article by Tamar Yonah. I have linked it here so that my readers can be informed as to the outrageous anti-Semitism of this former President of the United States, and to condemn his recent book shamefully entitled, " Palestine: Peace, not Apartheid". We must stand-up against such obvious anti-Semitism, and to always be vigilant to call it's perpetrators to account.

I was doing a radio show last week when this idea came to mind. Read on...

If I said that you (the reader of this article) was a spy for a foreign country, you would laugh it off. Because who am I? I am relatively unknown and don't hold any international prestige. But if Henry Kissinger, or someone else famous in the political arena published a book and named you as a spy, you would take that VERY seriously. So would anyone else reading that book, because Kissinger served in a very high position, therefore it would be assumed that he would know, right?

Conversely, if Iranian Leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the State of Israel was the reason that there is no peace in the Middle East, and that the Jews were practicing Apartheid, most people around the world who have even a simple grasp of political realities would know that he is an anti-Semite, and therefore would not take what he says as having any validity. They KNOW he is an anti-Semite and that he wants to destroy the nation of Israel.

This is why the new book written by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter called, 'Palestine: Peace, not Apartheid' is so dangerous. Jimmy Carter always seemed to show himself on camera as a very gentle, soft spoken southern gentleman, devoted to his religious beliefs, and almost always with a smile on his face, showing he was a warm and non-threatening person. But beneath that friendly looking smile seems to lie a deep prejudice against the Jewish people.

Monroe Freedman, (now a professor of law at Hofstra University), served on the Holocaust Memorial Council during Carter's term as president. Part of his job was to present to Carter, names of those to be approved for the board of the Holocaust Memorial Council. In an article that was published in World Net Daily, January 25, 2007, ?Jimmy Carter: Too many Jews on Holocaust council? about 80% of the board members Monroe recommended were Jewish, the rest were Gentiles. Freedman said that after submitting his list, Carter complained. Monroe says his memo was returned with a note, in Carter's handwriting, and initialed by him, on the upper right hand corner stating "Too many Jews". Monroe was then given instructions by the White House to add more non-Jews to the board of the Holocaust Memorial Council. After compiling a new list, another legitimate candidate was rejected. Monroe stated in the article, "I got a phone call from our liaison at the White House saying this particular historian whose name sounded Jewish would not do. The liaison said he would not even take the time to present Carter with the possibility of including the historian on the board because he knew Carter would think the name sounded too Jewish. I explained the historian is Presbyterian, but the liaison said it wouldn't matter to Carter."

Who would imagine this sort of anti-Semitism behind Carter?s benign smile and soft spoken voice?

As to the title of Carter's new best seller book, 'Palestine: Peace not Apartheid' :

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the word 'apartheid' means:

1 : racial segregation; specifically : a former policy of segregation and political and economic discrimination against non-European groups in the Republic of South Africa

2 : Separation, Segregation

None of these are true for Israel. There is no racial segregation in Israel. Arabs who are CITIZENS of the State of Israel not only live together with us, but serve as teachers, doctors, lawyers, and judges in Israeli courts. They are elected and serve in the Knesset, Israel?s parliament. Arabs who are citizens of Israel enjoy more freedoms here, than in their own Arab countries where dictatorships and oppressive Islamic laws abound.

For Jimmy Carter to claim that Israel denies rights to a person due to his/her race is preposterous. Carter obviously does not know the meaning of the word Apartheid which he uses in the tile of his book. I KNOW what apartheid is.

I visited South Africa in the late 70's when Apartheid was in affect there and saw it in action. There were separate busses, separate bus stops, separate bathrooms, separate schools, just about separate 'everything' there. Black South Africans certainly weren't allowed to live in the open suburbs where the white people settled. And it wasn?t only if you were black. Apartheid applied to all 'colored' people. That means if you were from a place like India, and were brown skinned, it categorized you as a 'colored' and so you did not enjoy the rights of the 'White' race.

Perhaps Carter wants to portray Israel as racist because of Arabs who complain about having to go through security check points on the roads? If so, this is a false claim of apartheid.

Because of the Arab terror that threatens Israel daily, IDF soldiers are stationed in vulnerable spots on roads leading to heavily populated cities. All vehicles traveling these roads, regardless if they are Israeli or Arab, must pass through these check points. Soldiers scan all vehicles in an attempt to catch suicide bombers or vehicles smuggling in explosive devices . This means, even if you are Jewish, and have served in the army (IDF), you too will have to wait in (sometimes) long lines to be checked before you are allowed to continue on to Israeli population centers. There is nothing racial here. All suffer this inconvenience, Jews and Arabs alike. Yet Carter says that Israel ?perpetrates even worse instances of apartness, or apartheid, than we witnessed even in South Africa?, Haaretz news service reports.

Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz attempted to de-bunk Jimmy Carter through a public debate, on the contents of his book, ?Palestine: Peace not Apartheid?, which was filled with errors, omissions, and an anti-Israel bias. But the former U.S. President declined to debate the Professor. This, after Carter said the reason he wrote the book was because he wanted to encourage more debate! So then why is he running from it?

And so, one can only come to the conclusion that Jimmy Carter is, under his soft words and gentle smile, an anti-Semite, and a dangerous one. He seems to hide this anti-Semtism under a friendly smile, while conspiring to do harm to the Jewish people.

It is time to start a new awards ceremony, exposing the anti-Semites of the world who hide under innocent masks and clever words. Because if it was a Nazi writing lies about the Jews, the average person would know better. Not so when these lies come from a former U.S. president, purporting to be an honest broker for peace.

We need to identify people who operate like this, to let the world know who is an anti-Semite, and so give the average person a little foreknowledge. One should know when reading books like Carter's, that he's known for being an anti-smite, then they can take his word with more than a grain of salt when he talks about Israel and the Jewish people.

And so... (drum beat please), we award former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, the 2006 'Anti-Semite of the Year' award.

This man is very dangerous, as Tamar points out in her post. Why is he so dangerous ? He is dangerous because he is a former President of the United States of America, and people will listen to him, even if he is wrong. It's not that he is not a learned man, he is. It's that he chooses to ignore the TRUTH, and to promote vicious lies instead.

He is deserving of this award, and I hope that in the future he will keep his opinions to himself, and stick to things he knows more about, like peanuts !!

Israel's Greatest Internal Threat

The urgent need to renew Israel's national purpose.

Last summer's war in Lebanon triggered a process of national soul-searching unlike any that I have experienced in my nearly three decades living in Israel. Nor did that process end with the war. Fueled by revelations of the failures of the war, an unending string of corruption scandals, and the threat to Israel's continued existence posed by Iran that soul-searching has continued unabated.

Interestingly, the sharpest critique during the war came from Ha'aretz, the newspaper of Israel's elites. The war in Lebanon, as portrayed by Ari Shavit and others, was not simply a failure of the political and military echelons; it represented the failure of Israeli society in general.

Yair Sheleg, for instance, wrote that a decadent society is ill-equipped to confront threats to its very existence. Signs of that decadence are everywhere to be found. Hedonism and the pursuit of material goods occupy the adults. Being a celebrity -- regardless of achievements -- is the primary goal of Israeli youth.

Shavit describes a profound "cultural affliction: the relinquishing of ideas, principles, basic beliefs, worldviews, and an overall grasp of reality --... sophistication without a [moral] compass..."

The elites, Shavit charges, have lost any connection to the Jewish people's unique history, and convinced themselves that Israel can achieve a normal existence amidst a sea of Arabs. He accuses them of imagining Tel Aviv to be Manhattan, sounding almost like Rabbi Meir Simcha Hakohen of Dvinsk warning decades before the Holocaust that if the Jews of Berlin continue to mistake Berlin for Jerusalem a great fire will go out from Berlin and consume the entire Jewish world.

To quell any qualms of consciences about their naked pursuit of the good life, the Israeli elites convinced themselves that Israel is so powerful, so insanely strong, that nothing can threaten it. That strength justifies their failure to show up for reserve duty or to send their children to combat units (a trend recently confirmed by the Chief of IDF Manpower Gen. Elazar Stern.)

Meanwhile they set out to undermine every element of national strength: making mincemeat of the old Zionist narrative, while failing to substitute anything else in its place; criticizing Israel's militarism and denigrating military service; making mockery of the old communitarian values.
All this resulted in a loss of national vitality. The name of the game now, writes Shavit, is rebuilding national will, and all national resources must be directed towards that task.

FAILING ENTERPRISE

Daniel Gordis, head of the Mandel Leadership Institute, writes from the traditional Zionist center. Gordis begins a recent account of the loss of the original Zionist hope by recounting an exchange with a doctor he was meeting for the first time. The doctor asks him what he does, and he replies, that he writes. "What do you write about?" the doctor asks. "About the future of Israel," Gordis replies. "Oh, you write short stories," is the doctor's response. Both laugh, but as Gordis notes, "neither of us thought that it was particularly funny."

Next Gordis describes a discussion with an IDF general, who wonders why Israelis have not taken to the street to protest the ongoing series of corruption scandals that have enmeshed so many senior politicians and public officials, including Prime Minister Olmert.

The answer is that Israelis have awakened to the fact that the problem is not just a handful of corrupt leaders or a few lousy generals. Political corruption and military failure reflect on the entire society. Israelis are not taking to the streets, in part, because they understand that they have gotten the leaders they deserve.

Israelis are beginning to wonder, writes Gordis, whether Zionism itself has not failed, despite the booming economy, world class scientific research, still powerful defense forces. He points to two promises that Zionism originally offered: that a Jewish state would prove a safe haven for Jews and the normalization of the Jewish condition. Of late, it has become clear that it has failed to deliver on either promise.

"The summer of 2006," writes Gordis, "put an end to that illusion of safety. For 34 long days, the IDF unleashed enormous potential portions of its (conventional) firepower, but it couldn't stop the firing of Hezbollah's Katyusha's rockets on the North... In the end, the only thing that stopped the shelling of Israel's northern cities was the United Nations." Only 60 years after the Holocaust, more than half the world's Jewish children may soon find themselves in the "crosshairs of a nuclear-armed Iran." In sum, "it is now more dangerous to be a Jew in Israel than in any other place in the world."

Nor has Zionism done any better at delivering on its promise to "normalize the condition of the Jew in the world." The early Zionists believed that once the Jews had a state of their own, the world would "cease its relentless attention to this tiny fraction of the world's population." That manifestly has not happened. Half a million people are slaughtered in Rwanda, another 300,000 in Darfur, and there are 200,000 child soldiers in Sierra Leone alone, and all this merits less attention than one protester run over by an Israeli bulldozer (which could not see her), as she tried to protect tunnels through which arms were being smuggled into Gaza from being destroyed.

"North Korea goes nuclear, Iran threatens to do the same and publicly says that Israel should be destroyed, and still, there's only one country in the world whose right to exist is still debated," Gordis astutely observes. Israeli novelist Amos Oz notes that his Polish-born father heard chants of "Jews go to Palestine" when he was a child, and today the world chants, "Jews out of Palestine." The irony is not lost even on this icon of the Israeli Left. The message: "Don't be here. Don't be there. In short, don't be."

The implications for the failure of Zionism to deliver on its major promises, Gordis writes, go far beyond Israel. No one can be so naןve as to believe that without Israel "American Jewish life would simply chug along? It would last a generation, maybe two." Apart from the Orthodox world -- and even there the response would not be uniform -- it is hard to gainsay his conclusion.

Gordis calls for the restoration of Zionist hope -- the kind of hope for the future that once lead Jews to dance with joy upon the completion of the National Water Carrier project. But he offers scant guidance as to how that might be done. Most notably, his powerful essay makes no reference to Torah or to the religion of the Jews of Israel. Absent the Torah's vision of a Jewish future and mission, it is hard to fathom from where such hope could come.

WEARY JEWS

Professor Israel (Robert) Aumann, speaking at last week's Herzliya Conference, began by analyzing the Iranian nuclear threat in terms of the game theory for which he won the 2005 Nobel Prize in Economics. As serious as the threat from Iran is, however, the internal threat posed to Israel from post-Zionism is far greater, according to Aumann. Without a renewed sense of the Jewish people's bond to Eretz Yisrael and millennial hope of return to the Land, he said, "We will not endure. We will simply no longer be here. Post-Zionism will finish us off."

The Israeli and international press could not get enough of the six nut-cases in Chassidic garb who attended the recent conference of Holocaust denial in Teheran. But however much damage they did to the image of Torah Jews around the world, the actual influence of those six on any segment of Jewry is non-existent. Not so that of hundreds of post-Zionists who fill senior positions in Israeli academia, where they help to shape the views of Israel's young. Ilan Pappe of Haifa University, for instance, has been one of the moving forces behind academic boycotts of Israel around the world.

Israeli post-Zionism was on full display at Tel Aviv University on January 8, when the university law faculty sponsored a conference devoted to the proposition that Palestinian security prisoners are, in fact, political prisoners. Among those warmly welcomed by the audience were Tali Fahima, an Israeli Jew recently released from prison for providing logistical help to the Al Aksa Martyrs Brigade in Jenin, and a former Palestinan security prisoner, jailed for throwing a hand grenade at an Israeli bus. Not one academic paper was presented at the conference, just a series of far-Left speeches denouncing Israel. As Ben-Dror Yemini noted in Ma'ariv, "Hosting those that deny the Zionist enterprise's right to exist at Tel Aviv University is not very different from hosting Holocaust deniers in Teheran."

Aumann went on to discuss the weariness of Israeli Jews -- a weariness to which Prime Minister Ehud Olmert gave full expression when he described Israel as "tired" -- tired of war, tired of winning, tired of being brave. "We are like a mountain-climber who gets caught in a snowstorm; the night falls, he is cold and tired, and he wants to sleep. If he falls asleep, he will freeze to death. We are in terminal danger because we are tired," said Aumann.

Quoting Churchill -- "If you want peace, prepare for war" -- Aumann argued that Israel's weariness, its various capitulations, gestures, convergence plans have only served to convince our Arab "cousins" that "we no longer have spiritual strength, that we have no time, that we are calling for a time-out."

The only alternative, said Aumann, is to convince the Arabs that "We have time; we have patience; we have stamina." Such a message of "spiritual readiness," he admitted was not just a matter of words, but one that the Israeli Jews must "understand and internalize." How that might be achieved, however, he did not say.

Yossi Klein Halevi, writing last week in the Wall Street Journal, focused primarily on Israel's ongoing corruption scandals -- "leading tax authority officials have been arrested for fraud, the finance minister is under investigation, and any of a half-dozen alleged financial scandals could topple Prime Minister Ehud Olmert." He quotes Israelis as telling one another, "There is no judgment and no judge."

Cronyism, known as protekzia, has been part of the woof and weave of Israeli life from the start, and Israel's leaders were not exactly moral paragons. But at least, the population knew "their leaders were devoted to the nation." "The same can hardly be said about today's politicians," writes Halevi, "who absorbed the wiles of the founders but not their self-sacrifice."

"The internal challenge facing Israel society is no less daunting that the external ones," Halevi writes. Given that in another article published last week, he and historian Michael Oren remarked on the appearance for the first time of Holocaust analogies in Israeli strategic thinking and took for granted the necessity of an imminent military confrontation with Iran, the claim that the internal threats are every bit as great is not a mean one. That internal challenge, according to Halevi, is "to recreate a society that is worth fighting for."

It matters not that other countries may be equally corrupt, or that all other Western nations possess intellectual classes who identify with the country's enemies. In Israel, these things pose an immediate threat to the nation's very existence. In no other Western nation is so much demanded of the population in terms of military service, high taxes, and constant threats to physical security. And therefore in no other country, do citizens require such a strong sense of national purpose to prevent them from pulling up stakes and leaving.

Whereas the state's founding fathers envisioned a Jewish state engaging in normal relations with the rest of the world, and creating an enviable society within -- "externally normalized, internally exceptional." But just the opposite has occurred -- Israel's existence is still not accepted as normal by the nations of the world, and meanwhile her internal society has turned out to be anything besides exceptional.

In the nature of their critique, the writers surveyed differed in many details. But they all agree on two key points. First, in light of the external threats it faces, Israel cannot survive without a great deal of internal cohesion and sense of national purpose. And second, these qualities are notable today primarily by their absence.

These forceful critiques also contain a powerful message for the Torah community of Israel. We must do everything in our power to create the type of society that can serve as a model to other Jews of what a Jewish society might look like. Only then will be able to convince our fellow Jews that the Torah offers the answers for all that threatens our ability to summon up the will power to survive and prevail in our rough neighborhood.

The Good Life: Women's Voices!

Yesha is in grave danger. If Olmert goes through with his planned agenda, some 200,000+ Israeli Jews will be uprooted from their homes. We must act now to prevent another, far larger, "withdrawal".

Judea and Samaria must not become, yet another, Gush Katif. If something is not done, now, it will be too late.

This post was written by, Shoshana, a brave Jewish woman, who has just made aliyah, with her family, in the summer of 2006. She and her family now live in Samaria, (the Samaria that Olmert intends to abandon, along with the region of Judea).

I read her post, and was very impressed by her zeal and courage, and I wanted to share it with my readers.

Women's Voices

Last night, at a women's only performance of Naomi & Ruth, the light was there. A whole auditorium of women who are awake. The women of Yesha are alive.

If you heard us -all 200!- sing Ani Ma'amin, the emet was bouncing off the walls. I thought as we sang- Do you hear us HaShem? Do you hear us? We are waiting. Let us see you now.

For these women, for our children. For our nation.

The life we experienced before is gone. We have one single purpose. Our geula depends on those of us who are awake.

I slept soundly for the first time in months.

These are the women who are working with me to have bitachon, emunah, emet, and torah in our world, I am in very good company.

Now, Nava is living here too. I understand. I came on the same route.

It had to be now.

Open Letter to the World: Read This And Repent

This is just one family's tragic story, that especially touched my heart as a mother. Tali Hatuel, and her five (she was eight months pregnant, with a son) children were innocent victims, murdered in cold blood, by "Palestinian" (Arab) terrorists.

When will the world wake-up and acknowledge this truth ??? How many more Israelis' must be slaughtered by these so-called, "Palestinians", before we are willing to except the obvious ?? The Arabs are the problem here, NOT the Israelis' !!

My preceeding post is a listing of Israeli deaths at the hands of the "Palestinian" Arabs, from September 2000 - November 2006, READ IT and see for yourself, what Israel has had to endure, and then you decide !! I challenge you to go to my preceeding post and click on the names listed there, see for youselves, the TRUTH of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, in the Middle East !!

These are real people, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, infants, grandparents, brothers, and sisters, and their INNOCENT blood is crying out to us, to please, please, please, realize what is happening here. May 2, 2004 - Tali Hatuel, 34, and her daughters - Hila, 11, Hadar, 9, Roni, 7, and Merav, 2 - of Katif in the Gaza Strip were killed when two Palestinian terrorists fired on an Israeli car at the entrance to the Gaza Strip settlement bloc of Gush Katif.

They were on their way to campaign against Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's disengagement plan. Their white Citroen station wagon spun off the road after the initial shooting, then the attackers approached the vehicle and shot the occupants dead at close range. The Hatuels' car was riddled with bullets, and the carpet inside was stained with blood. The girls were killed hugging one another. On the car was a bumper sticker saying, "Uprooting the settlements, victory for terror."

Another Israeli civilian, a resident of Ohad in the Eshkol region, traveling in a separate car, suffered moderate gunfire wounds and two soldiers were wounded before the terrorists were killed. Fatah and Islamic Jihad claimed joint responsibility for the attack.

Tali, nee Malka, originally from Ashkelon, settled with her husband David in Katif 12 years ago. As a social worker for the Gaza Coast Regional Council, it was she who would comfort families of terror victims on the death of their loved ones. Tali was eight months pregnant, and was looking forward to the birth of her first son. The three older girls studied at a school in Atzmona where there father, David Hatuel is the principal.

Standing over the shrouded bodies of his wife and daughters, David Hatuel asked for their forgiveness for spending time away from home lobbying against the plan to pull out from Gaza. "On Friday the girls drew me a picture and wrote 'Daddy, we are proud of what you are doing for the home where we were born'," he said. "You were my flowers and I will not forget you," he said, and added, "Tali was a woman of valor. All the responsibility for the family was on her shoulders."

Tali Hatuel and her four daughters - Hila, Hadar, Roni, and Merav - were laid to rest side by side in Ashkelon. They are survived by husband and father David Hatuel, Tali's parents, two sisters, Orit and Sigalit, and brother, Yuval.

Mad Zionist: Breaking News: Olmert Weeks Away From Conceding Judea/Samaria

Once again, the credit for this urgent post goes to Mad Zionist.

I cannot stress enough the importance of this breaking news concerning Olmert's planned betrayal of the communities in the region of Judea/Samaria. He has made no secret of his intentions for months, but no one seems to have taken the threat seriously. Now, it appears he is only weeks from carrying through with his disastrous policies, yet again. This is a very real threat to the future survival of our Beloved Israel, and yet, what is being done to prevent it's implementation ??

Some have said that removing Olmert from office would prevent it ???? I don't think so !! I've watched as Israel's former leaders have vowed to reject the pressures of world opinion, before entering office, only to turn-coat, sell-out, and betray the people of Israel, consistently walking the tight-rope of world opinion and appeasement, leader, after leader, after leader. Therefore, I do not believe that removing Olmert from office would stop these suicidal policies. The next man to fill the position would, I believe, fall right in line with the global elites' agenda, just as Olmert, and Sharon, and all those, who have held the position, have done before them.

This is an agenda that goes all the way back to 1967 and the UN Security Council Resolution #242, which would require Israel to return to pre-1967 borders, that the world has been attempting to cram down Israel's throat for the past, forty years. Sharon's stroke and replacement, by Olmert, didn't save Gush Katif, and Olmert's removal would not save Judea/Samaria !!

The time has come for action !! G-D forbid that it should pit Jew-against-Jew, but something must be done, and soon, or Judea/Samaria will go the way of Gush Katif !!

Make no mistake about it, Jerusalem is their ultimate goal, and Israel without Jerusalem would be like a man without a heart, DEAD !! The time for hard choices has arrived !!

We must pray, and pray, and pray, and then we must take our stand, and stand firmly, whatever the consequences !!

Breaking News: Olmert weeks away from conceding Judea/Samaria

In just a few weeks, perhaps a month, we are going to see Prime Minister Ehud Olmert officially hand over Judea and Samaria to the moslems as a "good will gesture" for peace. Soon after that, God willing, Settler Jews will mobilize an army of their own, declare the independent State of Judea in what is now called "The West Bank", and fight a war of independence against the vermin just like the first war of Independence back in 1947.

Of course, the war will probably also be waged against the self-loathing Hellenists of Israel, who would violently oppose such a state, but sometimes an internal war, like that fought by the Maccabees, is the only way to resolve a war against God. My money would be on the outgunned settlers, who would make up in stomach what they lack in fire power.

A dandy like Olmert would surrender after the first Hellenized IDF casualty.

JERUSALEM – Israel and the Palestinians have been conducting behind-the-scene negotiations regarding handing over most of the West Bank to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, according to top Egyptian and European diplomatic sources who told WND they were directly involved with the talks.

The West Bank borders Jerusalem and is within rocket-firing range of Tel Aviv and Israel's international airport.

The Egyptian and European sources told WND the negotiations for an Israeli withdrawal were mediated by Egypt and the European Union, with U.S. input. The sources said major changes in Israeli-Palestinian affairs are expected within a few weeks to two months.

Observing the corrupt state of self-loathing Marxists continue the folly of appeasing moslems while punishing Zionist Jews, plus the insanity of the treasonous inbreeds of Naturei Karta taking center stage at the Holocaust Denial Conference in Iran, I had to look at what the great Rav Kahane had said 20 years ago about the plight of a country where most nationalists are not religious enough and most religious aren't Zionist enough.

It reminds me of this past week's Torah portion, Va'eira, in which Moshe is promised by God that the exile is coming to an end and the covenant of settling the Land of Abraham, Isaac and Israel is about to be fulfilled.

"I appeared to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as El Shaddai, but with My name Hashem I did not make myself known to them. Moreover, I established My covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their sojourning...Moreover, I have heard the groan of the Children of Israel whom Egypt enslaves and I have remembered My covenant."

The time is now to end the tragic, self-destructive, militant liberal secularism that is killing Israel, and wake up the galut-addicted, delusional chareidim from their blasphemous anti-Zionism, and get things turned around for Am Yisroel before it's too late. Yes, it is now more critical than ever to speedily make ourselves follow what Rav Kahane referred to as "uncrippled Jewishness and Judaism" before the vermin wipe us off the map.

It won't be easy to get the secular humanists and galut-worshipping mystics to wake up from their delusion, but it's our only hope and failure is not an option.

IDF Cpl. Gilad Shalit [pictured] has become a pawn in the power struggle between the Fatah and Hamas factions, charges a third terrorist group, which participated in his capture last June.

The Army of Islam said in a statement Wednesday that Shalit is in Hamas’ sole custody at present, adding that the group led by Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh is using the hostage in its bid to retain control of the government.

Israel has agreed several times to a prisoner swap deal brokered by Egyptian intelligence officials with Shalit’s captors, only to have it called off at the last minute by Hamas.

The primary bone of contention between Israel and Hamas rests on the issue of which prisoners to release and how the swap for Shalit will be handled. Israel wants Shalit freed before it hands over the terrorist prisoners, and Hamas is refusing to do so. Hamas has also demanded the release of prisoners which Israel has said it will never free, due to their long-time status and the severity of their crimes.

“The issue of the captured soldier has become a political case for the sake of narrow factional interests,” read the statement. “Muslims are being prevented from gaining their freedom because of Fatah and because of Hamas.”

Army of Islam terrorists contend that when Shalit was captured last year, an agreement had been made between the three groups involved in the raid that there would be no movement on the soldier’s fate – toward freedom or death – while there was still a chance the Israelis would come through with a prisoner swap.

Now the group says both Hamas, and the Fatah faction headed by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen), are using the issue of the offer by Israel to fight each other, rather than focus on freeing PA prisoners.

“Either Fatah uses it to get at Hamas, or Hamas uses it to get at Fatah,” accused the third terrorist group, which urged that Hamas allow the PA Prisoner Affairs Minister the authority to make the decisions and bring the parley to an end.

After numerous meetings between the two factions failed to produce a coalition unity government in the PA, Abbas finally announced last month that he was calling for new elections. Abbas' announcement reignited the bloody street battles between Fatah and Hamas terrorists that began almost a year ago, after Hamas won control of the PA government in a landslide.

As the internal PA violence intensifies, once again people on both sides of the Gaza border speculate whether “this time” the PA will break apart in an outright civil war.

Some 30 PA residents have been killed in the fighting since the new elections were announced, and Shalit remains in captivity.

A spokesman for one of the organizations responsible for the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit faults Israel for wanting proof that the soldier is still alive without freeing 250 terrorists in exchange.

Abu Mujahid, a spokesman for the Hamas-affiliated Popular Resistance Committees, spoke with the Palestinian Authority news agency Maan about the stalled talks for the release of kidnapped IDF Corp. Gilad Shalit.

The spokesman blamed Israel for sabotaging the talks, saying Israel should have accepted the Egyptian proposal. This proposal, he said, "was the closest one to the Palestinian demands in terms of the number of terrorists [to be freed from Israeli prisons] and the criteria for their release." He said that Israel actually expected to receive "free information" proving that Gilad Shalit was alive, while Hamas had demanded 250 prisoners in exchange for a video of the soldier.

Abu Mujahid says that Gilad's health is fine, and "he is being treated according to Islamic tradition... He was not humiliated or tortured." An Egyptian source also said recently that Shalit was alive, but no outside observers, such as the Red Cross, have ever been allowed to verify this.

Shalit was captured over six months ago by a group of eight Palestinian Hamas terrorists who tunneled underground from Gaza into Israel, murdered two tankcrewmembers, wounded a third, and took Shalit captive. Prime Minister Olmert said at the time that he holds PA chief Abu Mazen "personally responsible" for Shalit's safety, and said he would not conduct negotiations with Hamas for the soldier's release.

How many terrorists is Hamas demanding in exchange for Shalit? Though rumors of 1,400 have been circulating for months, Abu Mujahid has a different story: "Our just and humane demand is for the release of 1,000 Arab and Palestinian prisoners, including women and youths - and it will not change. The occupiers will surrender to our demands in the end, because stalling and condescension will not return the kidnapped soldier home... [We] can hold him for years."

Addressing remarks to Shalit's family, Abu Mujahid said, "Your government does not want to return your son back home. If it would have agreed to the Egyptian proposal, he would have been home already."

The two other IDF soldiers captured last year, Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, were taken by Hamas at the start of the war in Lebanon. Information regarding their condition is even sparser than that on Shalit, and Olmert even let slip several weeks ago that he "hopes" they are alive.

The People’s Resistance Committee in Gaza claimed Tuesday that kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit is in good health. The terrorist group claimed that Shalit’s kidnappers are ready to care for him for years to come.

Gilad Shalit was kidnapped over six months ago while on patrol near Gaza.

His captors are requesting the release of over one thousand terrorists in exchange for his freedom.

Make no mistake. Many Jews do not recognize the legitimacy of Israeli government, and the number of disaffected people grows. Treacherous concessions to Arabs and the liberal world opinion are reversible.

Some Jews will abandon Israeli citizenship, take up arms, and establish the state of Judea.

(IsraelNN.com) Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and other top officials in the government had no official reaction to Saturday’s execution of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

The only comment came as the response to a question posed by a reporter about Saddam’s hanging. “Iraqis have made their choice, and we hope for the Iraqi people that they establish a stable country for Iraq and the Middle East,” replied Olmert spokeswoman Miri Eisen.

Deputy Defense Minister Ephraim Sneh made several comments in an interview with Israel Radio, however. “We need to remember that there was an Israeli angle,” he said, reminding listeners that Saddam paid $25,000 to families of each suicide bomber who murdered Israeli civilians, and $10,000 to the families of each terrorist who died fighting IDF soldiers. “He sent 39 (Scud) missiles to Israel [during the 1991 Gulf War]... and tried to prepare nuclear weapons to be used against us,” he added.

Israel destroyed the Osirah nuclear reactor that was built near the Iraqi capital of Baghdad in 1981.
